Hosted by the Korea Baseball Softball Association (Chairman Lee Jong-hoon, KBSA) and sponsored by E-Mart, the competition was born last year with the aim of expanding the base of sports baseball, promoting friendship among alma mater graduates, and supporting the baseball team. Sangwon High School won 7-5 in its first match against Gyeongbuk High School at Daegu Citizens’ Baseball Stadium on the 2nd. Yang Joon-hyuk, who played as the fourth designated hitter, scored two hits and one RBI in three at-bats, and Ahn Ji-man, the third first baseman, scored all hits, RBIs and runs. Former Samsung Futures manager Sung-joon showed off his perfect pitch without losing a point in two innings as the fourth pitcher at Kyungpook High School, but lost his light due to the team’s defeat. Sangwon High School aims to win the tournament this year to mark its 100th anniversary. In particular, Sangwon High School’s baseball team, led by head coach Kim Seung-kwan, beat Gyeongbuk High School at the Bonghwangdaegi High School Baseball Tournament on the 4th and succeeded in advancing to the semifinals.

Bukil High School and Gongju High School, which drew attention due to the match between prestigious baseball high schools in South Chungcheong Province, won 11-6. Outfielder Lim Jae-chul, who played for Lotte, Samsung, Hanwha, Doosan and LG, had one hit and one RBI, including a double.

In the preliminary round in Seoul, Northeast High School beat Sunrin Internet High School 8-2 and Gyeonggi High School defeated Seongnam High School 18-1. In the second round of the preliminary round, Northeast High School and Gyeonggi High School faced off, and Gyeonggi High School, which had strong firepower, won 12-3.

In the preliminary round in Busan, Busan High School won the 17-2 cold game against Dongsung High School, and Busan Technical High School beat Kaesong High School 10-3. Dongnae High School won 8-3 against Yangjeong High School.

Meanwhile, some of the finals at Bukil High School Baseball Stadium and the final match scheduled at Gocheok Sky Dome will be broadcast on Sport TV, with 30 million won for the winning team, 15 million won for the runner-up team, and 7 million won each for the development of the alma mater baseball.

Eight teams from Seoul, seven teams from Busan, four from Daegu, one from Gwangju, three from Incheon, two from Daejeon, one from Ulsan, one from Gangwon, two teams in South Chungcheong, two teams in North Gyeongsang Province, two teams in North Jeolla Province and six teams in Jeju will participate in the competition. The Jeju team is all a regular high school.
