Nevada Gaming Commission Approves New Regulations to Prevent Security Breach

All state casinos are obliged to protect the employees, customers, and themselves included in the casino’s work. After some security breaches around the world, the good news is that casinos will be protected from cyberattacks in the future.

Under the rule, state casinos must have a risk assessment plan in place by the end of next year. The plan will be renewed at least once a year. The revised regulations include how operators must report to authorities when they are attacked by cyber.

The news relates to more than 400 non-restricted casino operators at a meeting on Thursday, when the Nevada Resort Association and the Game Equipment Manufacturers Association approved the restrictions without objection. The new regulations held public hearings in the fall.

Many major casinos already have data protection built into their systems and can prevent data breaches, but resorts still have problems with various hackers and cyber thieves.

In 2015, the Virgin Hotel Hard Rock Hotel, now located in the Las Vegas chain, survived a data breach. At that time, the company informed customers to process the amount on their credit cards during that period. 경마사이트

Casino operators and licensed operators of sportsbooks can protect themselves in many ways. The regulation did not say exactly what they should do, but advised them to develop “cybersecurity best practices that they think are appropriate.”

As for operators, they added that cybersecurity risks to their business operations should be constantly monitored and assessed, and cybersecurity best practices and risk assessments should be appropriately modified after initial risk assessments are performed.

If a cyber attack occurs and leads to a data breach, the casino must contact the Nevada Game Control Board within 72 hours. The description of the casino should include a description of the cause and extent of the infringement and follow-up measures to minimize damage and prevent other violations.

Nevada Resort Association President Virginia Valentine said few association members attended previous meetings where the topic was discussed. She added that the opinions of members of the association were added to the revised regulations, but did not comment further on the amendments.

Daron Dorsey, executive director of the Game Equipment Manufacturers Association, said his organization sent a letter to the committee. They proposed eight modifications to the documents, and they were approved. Most of them were explanations of the stated policies.
