One of the strongest election cycles in history will also break records in the bookmaking industry as voters head to the polls Tuesday to determine the next president of the United States.
William Hill Sportsbook & Racebook spokesperson Graham Sharp said Monday that the race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton “broke” all previous election betting records, “maximum betting turnover on any political event” believed to have jumped on the outcome across the industry
He added: “William Hill alone is set to break through £4m in sales for the first time at any political event, and with the results still too imminent, we expect political bets to hit the election campaign deadline.”
This morning, Clinton, the Democratic nominee, was re-entered the top spot with a landslide -550 in most places, but the market has seen a tumultuous change in recent years. In fact, Sharpe told William Hill that Trump’s odds have dropped tenfold in the past two weeks. 경마사이트
Clinton has been a fervent supporter of much of the campaign. Her odds peaked at 1 to 9 in mid-October after tape showed Trump making harsh comments to the host of the “Access Hollywood” TV show 11 years ago. However, her odds dropped to 280 after FBI Director James Comey sent a letter to Congress on Oct. 28 saying he had found an email that could have been linked to a previously closed investigation into whether Clinton had mishandled confidential information.
