“We are delighted to welcome Hara to Nebraska,” said Tom Jackson, CER’s managing partner. “When looking for a casino operator partner, Hara’s brand awareness and established commitment codes for employees, customers, and the communities they operate in have proven to be easy choices. In addition, their excellent reward programs, marketing teams, high-performance entertainment networks, and best-in-class gaming experiences check all the right boxes for this partnership.”

Jackson continues, “As we strive to create a new entertainment destination for the Midwest, this partnership will be an important economic driver and job creator for Columbus and the surrounding community. It also strengthens our commitment to hardworking people in the Nebraska horse racing industry. We look forward to bringing new gaming and entertainment experiences to our valued customers.”

Conveniently located off Highway 81 in Columbus, the roughly $75 million casino development is expected to include a new one-mile racetrack, 40,000 square feet of casinos and sportsbook, restaurant, and retail space with more than 400 slot machines and 20 table games. The property is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

“When Nebraska voters hosted games at racetracks, we knew our experience in the casino industry and our commitment to horse racing made Hara a perfect fit,” said Tom Rig, CEO of Caesars Entertainment. “We look forward to creating a whole new Hara experience in Columbus and connecting to the Caesars Rewards network across the country.”

“We are excited to have the opportunity to transform horse racing in Columbus beyond starting casino games in Nebraska,” said Joe Morris, vice president of racing at Caesars Entertainment. “The opportunity to build a new first-rate track in our home demonstrates our commitment to the racing industry and our intent to continue the region’s storied racing tradition.”

Live horse racing has been part of the Columbus community for more than 75 years. CER board members Tom Jackson, Dan Clarey, Russell Placzek, Chad Sucha, and Dennis Hall have been running live racing and simulation at Ag Park since 2013. Columbus and its surrounding counties continue to support Blanket Race, which is sponsored by local businesses, class reunions, and memorial events.
