Game 2 of the best-of-six playoffs (best-of-three PO-5) between Suwon KT and Ulsan Hyundai Mobis in the 2023-2024 Korean Basketball League (KBO) season was a war of attrition. The two teams committed 24 fouls apiece, far exceeding the average of the 10 regular-season teams (19.7). Hyundai Mobis foreign player Kebe Aluma was fined 1 million won for headbutting KT’s Han Hee-won in the third quarter. In a nerve-wracking game, 스포츠토토 Hyundai Mobis won 79-77 to even the series at 1-1.
In the third game, which was destined to tip the balance, KT had the last laugh. KT defeated Hyundai Mobis 79-62 in Game 3 of the best-of-seven best-of-seven PO at Ulsan Dongcheon Gymnasium on Monday. With their second win of the series, KT is now just one win away from advancing to the best-of-four PO. In the history of the best-of-seven POs, the winner of Game 3 has a 63.6 percent (7 of 11) chance of advancing to the best-of-four POs in a best-of-one situation.
KT’s “ace duo” Paris Bass and Heo Hoon (pictured) were the stars of the show. Bass poured in a game-high 29 points to lead her team to victory, while Heo Hoon chipped in with 18 points and two assists. For Hyundai Mobis, the lack of disruption from two foreign players, Aluma (12 points) and Gage Prim (15 points), and poor shooting from the field prevented any of their domestic players from reaching double figures.
The first half, in which the two teams battled back and forth, ended with Hyundai Mobis holding a slight 38-33 lead. However, KT extended its lead to 61-52 in the third quarter, led by Bass, who scored 14 points in the quarter alone. In the fourth quarter, Heo Hoon’s back-to-back three-pointers hit the rim to seal the victory, and the game ended in KT’s favor.
Game 4 between the two teams will be played at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the same venue. If KT wins Game 4, they will face the second-place Changwon LG in the semifinals.
