MINISTRY OF CULTURE, SPORTS ABD TOURISM “BUDGET FOR STADIUM TURF RESTORATION, SUPPORT FOR QUICK RECOVERY”

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced that it will actively support the restoration of the grounds of the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Mapo-gu, where the closing ceremony of the 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree and a K-pop concert were held. “We have budgeted for the restoration of the stadium from the planning stage of the concerts and will do our best to support the restoration,” the ministry said in a press release on Wednesday in response to concerns about the damage to the grass at the venue. “As soon as the demolition of concert-related facilities such as the stage is completed, the Seoul Facilities Corporation 스포츠토토존 will closely examine the ground conditions and begin urgent restoration, including replanting the dedicated grass,” the ministry explained. “We will work with Seoul FC, which uses the Seoul World Cup Stadium as its home stadium, and the Seoul Facilities Corporation to restore the stadium to its original condition as soon as possible.” The “K-Pop Super Live” concert, which was held in conjunction with the closing ceremony at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Nov. 11, was originally scheduled to take place at Saemangeum Campground on Nov. 6, but the date and location were changed due to the impact of Typhoon Kanun. Some soccer fans raised concerns that the stadium lawn, where the stage and seats will be placed, is a hybrid lawn that was laid in 2021 at a cost of hundreds of millions of won.
