To open a new casino in Virginia, Rush Street Gaming, a leading Illinois-based casino operator, has officially obtained a license from the Virginia Lottery Board. Regulators unanimously issued the Rivers Casino Portsmouth license, the second license granted in Virginia.
With this new license, Virginia shows credibility and integrity when it comes to licensees.
Bristol’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was first licensed in April this year, opened a short-term casino in July this year, and two more scheduled casinos in Danville and Norfolk are undergoing licensing procedures.
Kelly T. Gee, executive director of the Virginia Lottery, said, “Lottery’s game compliance department and legal counsel helped with today’s decision by conducting investigations and background checks on applicants.
“The lottery works with all casino applicants, their vendors and employees to ensure that all aspects of the operation are in strict compliance with Virginia law.”
This $340 million casino project is expected to be fully operational in early 2023. The project will be located at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Cavalier Boulevard off interstate 264.
The casino includes 1,448 slots, 57 table games, 24 poker tables, 5 restaurants/bars, banquets and event spaces. 온라인경마
The operator has officially certified 147 new live dealers, 347 will graduate soon, and 50% of the new employees are minorities.
Rush Street Gaming’s goal is to hire 1,300 full-time employees, but it has hired 800 so far.
Official construction of the casino began in December 2021, with Virginia Beach-based S.B. Ballard Construction and Philadelphia-based Yates Construction as general managers.

Rush Street Gaming opened a 2,137 sq ft office in a co-working space on the high street of Old Town in July 2022 to provide space and recruitment support for more administrative departments.
