Kentucky hits nearly $250 mln sports betting handle since Sept. 7 launch

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has released preliminary data on sports betting handles in the state since its launch on September 7, 2023. Beshear reportedly announced that around 500,000 mobile betting accounts have been created since online betting began on Sept. 28, with nearly $250 million in Kentucky caught in retail sports betting operations over a 45-day period.

As reported by WBKO, the long-anticipated retail sports betting launch on September 7 generated more than $15.7 million in bets across the state. The launch of the online sportsbook on September 28 reportedly led to more than $232.3 million in sales through mobile devices in less than a month of operation. So, when you combine retail and mobile sportsbooks, you’ll have a 25-day co-operation or about $9.5 million a day in sales.

Beshear reportedly said: “Kentucky is approaching $250 million. That’s a strong number that certainly reflects the excitement about the start of sports betting. It took many years to get here, but sports betting has finally become a reality in Kentucky. This is a win-win for Kentuckians who can enjoy a quality entertainment experience and benefit from the funds that stay right here in our state to help us build a better Kentucky.”

As reported by WBKO, Sandy’s games and racing will open a retail sports book in Ashland on October 26, 2023. Grand opening of direct betting facilities attended by governors and city officials testifies to accelerating game operations in the state. Jonathan Rabinowitz, chairman of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, reportedly said, “We are hearing very positive feedback from both license holders and people betting in Kentucky. Thanks to the team’s dedication and hard work, this launch exceeded our expectations. Our work continues to protect bettors in the state and support the best customer experience.” 슬롯머신

Kentucky has gradually introduced legal sports betting following the examples of some other states, and this tiered implementation has allowed the authorities to test their policies and procedures at each stage of the implementation process. The House of Representatives has passed Bill 551, which sets sports betting tax at 9.75% for licensed face-to-face betting facilities and 14.25% for online and mobile betting operations.
