The Daily Mail, a British media outlet, reported on the 1st (Korea time) that “Fulham fans mocked Arsenal after Mikel Arteta’s team lost 2-1 at Craven Cottage and suffered consecutive Premier League defeats for the first time this season.” Fulham came from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 in the 20th round of the 2023/24 English Premier League (EPL) held at Craven Cottage in London on the 1st (Korea time).
The first goal was Arsenal. Martinelli dribbled from the left side in the fourth minute of the first half when he swung into the center and swung his shot. Leno saved with a brilliant dive, but his second ball went to Saka, making it 0-1. Fulham did not break, however. Willian continued to counterattack in the 28th minute of the first half, sending a pass to Tom Cairney who was running in with the ball in the left corner. Cairney immediately crossed with one touch and Raul Jimenez tapped it to make it 1-1. 경마
That was not the end of the match. Rice failed to properly clear a corner from the right in the 13th minute, sending the ball to Bobby Reid, who then pushed straight ahead to make a 2-1 comeback. In the match, Fulham fans teased Arsenal fans with a cheeky look as if they were making fun of their defeat. Arteta, who had lost just one of the first 15 Premier League matches this season, was winless in the last three, and Arsenal fell to fourth place.
To make matters worse, Tottenham Hotspur of Postecoglou, another London club, showed a good performance by adding three comfortable points to their win over Bournemouth. Arteta said, “We had the opportunity to rank No. 1 in 20 matches with consistent performance. We didn’t manage (the game) well enough to qualify as No. 1. We lost enough games three days ago, but today it’s a completely different story.”
“We lost two points at Anfield, but we did a great job. We lost three points against West Ham, but we had a great game. Today is a different story. That’s why I feel sad because we didn’t meet the level required to reach 90 points.”
Asked if the defeat was more worrisome than during the week, Arteta said, “Of course. The other one was that we couldn’t put the ball in the net and the opponent scored like that. It’s okay. I was more worried about the overall performance today.”
