The Samsung Lions of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) blew the whistle on their third straight win. Former Futures Home Run King Lee Sung-kyu hit his first career grand slam to lead the team to victory.
Lee started in center field in the No. 8 spot against the LG Twins at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on April 23.
In the top of the sixth inning with the score tied 3-3, Lee pulled a five-pitch forked ball (131 kilometers) on a 2B-2S pitch count against LG’s second pitcher Lee Woo-chan into the left-field stands. The ball traveled 115 meters.
Samsung defeated LG 7-3 to extend its winning streak to three games since April 20 against Hanwha in Daejeon. Left-hander Lee Seung-min, who started second to starter Danny Reyes, pitched two scoreless innings with one walk and three strikeouts to earn the win.
“Seung-min Lee and Ha-neul Choi did a great job on the mound,” Park said after the game. The bats were also good as they showed great concentration in the big innings,” said Park.
