Mourinho won’t stand for it…another Tottenham snipe

Jose Mourinho has made comments aimed at Tottenham Hotspur.

The British publication Tops published an interview with Mourinho on Sunday (July 7). Mourinho, who is in charge of Fenerbahce, spoke about Tottenham while looking ahead to UEFA Euro 2024. Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs in the 2019-20 season. Mourinho vowed to “bring back the trophies” after a disappointing second spell at Chelsea and Manchester United.

He never lifted a trophy with Spurs. He was sacked at the end of the 2020-21 season. It was a disappointment overall, but the timing of his dismissal was unfortunate. Mourinho hadn’t done well at Tottenham, but he had a clear mandate to win the trophy.

Tottenham chose to fire Mourinho just before the final. Ryan Mason replaced him in the final against Manchester City, and Spurs lost 0-1, finishing as runners-up again. Mourinho has linked Harry Kane’s dismissal to that time. Kane left Tottenham for Bayern Munich in search of trophies, and despite a breakthrough season in 2023-24, he was again ignored.

Mourinho added: “Kane has been a tremendous goalscorer for Tottenham, for the England national team and he did it again in Munich. He has a fantastic ability to score goals, he’s a complete player and he’s selfless. He drops deep, sets up passes, presses and defends. What Kane is missing is trophies. At Tottenham, I managed him once and I wanted to win the title with him, but they sacked him six days before the final.”

Mourinho had previously criticized the Tottenham board for sacking him just before the final, and he did so again. It was a humiliating experience 토토사이트 for Mourinho. After emerging as a young manager by winning the UEFA Champions League (UCL) with Porto, Mourinho went on to win titles with Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and even lifted the UEFA Europa League (UEL) trophy with Manchester United.

Mourinho left Tottenham for AS Roma, where he won the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL), proving once again that he is a champion’s champion. Mourinho hasn’t won a trophy at Tottenham since Porto, where he began his managerial career. Despite his overall lack of success at Tottenham, his failure to reach the final and his dismissal without winning a trophy will always be remembered as a great disappointment and humiliation for Mourinho.
