How bad things happen all at once…Tottenham to be without key MF for next game

Tottenham Hotspur have been hit by a string of bad news. Yves Bissouma will miss the upcoming league game.

Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-2 to Wolverhampton in the 11th round of the 2023-24 Premier League (PL) at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, England, on November 11 at 9:30 p.m. ET. It was the second straight defeat for Spurs (26 points), who remain in second place.

There were a number of changes to the starting lineup from the Chelsea game. Cristian Romero, who was sent off for a direct hit against Chelsea, and Destiny Udoh, who was suspended for accumulating cautions, missed the game. In addition, James Maddison and Mickey van der Penn were sidelined with injuries.

Despite what was expected to be a difficult game, Tottenham struck early to take the lead. In the third minute, a pass from the right flank by Dejan Kulusebski off his back foot was picked up by a charging Pedro Foro and crossed in. The penetrating Brennan Johnson slotted it home to give us the lead.

But the gap between the starters and the bench was clearly visible. The organized soccer that Enze Postecoglou has shown over the last 10 games was missing. The build-up was lackluster and the forward press was not as organized as in previous games.

Tottenham led 1-0 at the end of regulation, but two goals in second-half stoppage time put the game out of reach. Pablo Sarabia evened the score in the 46th minute. Mario Lemina pulled a goal back just before the end of the second half, sending Spurs to their knees with a 1-2 scoreline.

The problem is the next game. That’s because Bissouma, who started the game, was cautioned in first-half stoppage time, his fifth booking of the season. According to the UK’s Express, “Bissouma received his fifth booking of the season, which is an automatic one-match suspension. He will therefore miss the game against Aston Villa on June 26.”

The Premier League yellow card rule is that a player receives a one-match suspension after receiving a total of five cautions from rounds 1-19 of the league. A direct red card carries a three-match suspension, so Romero, who was sent off for a direct red 먹튀검증 against Chelsea, will miss the games against Wolverhampton, Villa, and Manchester City. The good news is that Udoji will be available for the upcoming game against Villa as he is serving a one-match suspension due to accumulated cautions.
