KBO PRESIDENT HEO KOO-YEON UNANIMOUSLY RE-ELECTED FOR THREE MORE YEARS UNTIL 2026 AT GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Heo Koo-yeon has been unanimously re-elected as the 25th president of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO).The KBO Secretariat announced today that the General Assembly, the highest decision-making body of the KBO, elected Heo as the 25th president of the organization by a majority of written ballots cast. Heo was the sole nominee for the position at the board of directors’ meeting on Nov. 18. The KBO Board of Governors recommends a candidate with the consent of at least ¾ of its members, and the General Assembly elects the president with the affirmative vote of at least ¾ of its members. He succeeded Chung Jeong-taek, who stepped down as the 24th president of the KBO in March last year, and will serve a new three-year term until December 2026.

Heo, who rose to the top of Korean baseball as a baseball commentator, follows Koo Bon-neung (August 2011-December 2017), who served as the 19th and 21st governors. The 22nd president, Chung Un-chan, gave up his bid for a second term, while Chung Jeong-taek stepped down after a year.
