Abondanza also considered adding a foreign player to the outside hitter position, but opted for Apojit, along with Kim Dae-eun and Park Hye-jin at outside hitter. “Outside hitter Anastasia Guerra was another player I was looking at. I wanted to make sure that Kim Da-eun would get a chance and grow, so I thought it was the right choice to pick Apojit,” he said.

“We’re planning for next season with Park Hye-jin as our main setter,” he said. The coach revealed his expectations for 2001-born Kim Da-eun and 2002-born Park Hye-jin, a 177-centimeter setter.

Abondanza also mentioned Park Hye-jin last year. At the time, Park did not play a single match in the 2022-23 season due to injury. She joined the team’s training program in the off-season of 2023, but played in nine games and 23 sets in 2023-24.

All eyes have been on Park’s fingertips since she began wearing a Heungkuk Life jersey as the fifth pick in the first round of the 2020 rookie draft.
