Vietnam’s finance ministry has proposed extending a pilot scheme to 2024 that would allow economically qualified Vietnamese locals to gamble at selected local casinos, reports Bao Papouet Viet Nam, a state-run news outlet in Vietnam’s legal sector. However, the number of places allowed under the plan will not be expanded, the report added. 온라인경마
The pilot scheme was implemented in 2017 but was not activated until 2019. According to the media, the three-year test plan was originally scheduled to be reviewed next year. The media report cited the ministry as saying the extension to 2024 was due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. It not only affected domestic leisure activities, but also reduced inbound tourism trade from abroad.
There are only two casino projects currently participating in the local play pilot in Vietnam. One is the Corona Resort and Casino on the southern resort island of Phu Quoc, which opened in January 2019. Its launch boosted the launch of the pilot scheme. Another place allowed to cater to locals is Quang Ninh Province’s anti-money plan being pursued by the Vietnamese company Sun Group.
The Treasury’s proposal to extend the pilot scheme undertaken by locals should be considered by the national prime minister and the Politburo, according to a Monday report by Bao Papleut Vietnam.
