The home of the Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals and Washington Mystics have now added preview destinations to watch and bet on all major sports.

“This is a really groundbreaking moment for Caesars and the sports betting industry in general,” said Tom League, CEO of Caesars. “This is the nation’s first physical stadium integrated sportsbook. This is the new paradigm, and this is where it goes. We ask Caesars employees to pioneer new paths to create a unique experience. When you walk through this property and see what’s here, this is exactly what we’re talking about.”

William Hill signed a deal with Monumental Sports & Entertainment in October 2019 to build and operate sportsbooks at Capital One Arena. This July, the temporary sportsbook space with betting windows and self-service kiosks came alive.

Now, the 18,000-square-foot, two-story sportsbook is full of wall-to-wall LEDs, DC sports memorabilia, and even conceptual restaurants designed by a local Michelin-starred chef.

“I think this is the first step, you’re going to see a lot of different stadiums and a lot of different leagues pushing gas to do this,” said Ted Leonsis, CEO and founder of Monumental Sports & Entertainment. “Because of that, we know we’re setting examples, and everyone’s going to watch how we implement it. We’re very committed to making this a very successful experience for our fans, our partners are thriving, and the stadiums are a natural home for sports books all over the world.”

Legg and Leonsis were among those cutting blue William Hill sportsbook ribbons this morning, a sign of the start of a new era in Washington, D.C., and of sports betting in general.

Immediately catching your attention as soon as you enter a sportsbook is the Jumbotron, a replica of what’s located inside Capital One Arena. The Jumbotron is a familiar sight to welcome sports fans, one of the many cool features inside that is designed to create an unparalleled atmosphere of appreciation for sports.

The sportsbook feels like you’re just entering the future of sports betting, but it also pays tribute to the athletes and the fieldwork that helped shape the DC sports scene. Newspaper headlines highlighting the biggest sporting moments in DC history are behind the ticket windows. Reminding fans of DC’s rich sporting history at every stage, uniforms hanging throughout the sportsbook include Bradley Beal (Wizard), Wes Unseld (Bullet), and Patrick Ewing (Georgetown).

Then there’s the groundbreaking restaurant. Nicholas Stephanelli, the chef and owner of the Michelin-starred restaurant Maseria, grew up in suburban Maryland and was a key figure in the DC food industry.
