CLE Owner “Trade Mitchell? No Way to the Lakers”

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ owner has expressed hostility toward the Lakers.

On June 21 (Korea time), local U.S. media outlet Hoops Wire reported on the trade market for Donovan Mitchell. “Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert will not trade Mitchell to the Los Angeles Lakers,” according to the report.

Recently, local media outlet The Athletic reported that Mitchell is the Lakers’ top offseason target. If the report is true, 먹튀검증 the Lakers likely won’t even try to land Mitchell.

Mitchell is one of the NBA’s top superstars, and his stock has risen this season with his improvement. Mitchell averaged 26.6 points and 6.1 assists per game this season, earning All-Star honors and serving as Cleveland’s undisputed ace in the hole.

Mitchell’s biggest improvement this season has been his passing. His 6.1 assists per game average is a career-high, and it’s a change of pace for the offensive guard, who typically looks to create his own shot rather than pass to a teammate.

He was also one of the only consistent performers among the young Cavaliers in the playoffs, establishing himself as a big game player.

There’s no reason for Cleveland to let Mitchell walk. The problem is that Mitchell has one year left on his contract. Mitchell is eligible to become a free agent after the 2024-2025 season. If Mitchell doesn’t re-sign, Cleveland will want to get something in return rather than letting him walk for free.

It’s not often that an owner openly expresses hostility toward another team. Gilbert’s animosity toward the Lakers is most likely due to his dislike of the Lakers’ trade cards.

The Lakers’ key trade card is Austin Reeves. However, Reeves is not exactly the main chip in the Mitchell trade. The Lakers don’t have any prospects or draft picks to offer, which makes their trade package less competitive than other teams.

Mitchell could change teams in the offseason, but if he does, it doesn’t seem likely that the Lakers will be the destination.
